Hunting & Fishing In California

Some pics from the last time I went out.  Great visibility = nice abbs and some serf perch.

Just recently went on my first Archery trip to the Ruby Mountains in Nevada.  We ended up backpacking in and staying 4 nights and leaving with 2 bucks.  The terrain was beautiful but very unforgiving.  Max harvested the first buck on Monday at nearly 10,000 feet elevation. We saw a lot of really amazing wildlife ranging from Eagles to the elusive Mountain Goat. I was never able to make a clean shot but that’s the nature of high country bow hunting.  All in all it was an amazing hunt and I plan to go back there for years to come.

Shout out to my hunting buddies: Max Thieriot, Bill and Greg Passalacqua

And also to Badlands Backpacks for the best hunting backpacks on the market!

First time out for Salmon this Year

Finally got the boat in the water Easter morning. Headed out 10 miles off Bodega head in search of some brown water and bait balls only to find increasing winds and swell. Finally had to turn in and battle the weather for a safe return…. Yes I got sea sick.  Boat worked like pro had repaired it.

First Abalone dive of the Year | Mendocino

Went out on Sunday thinking that we might have some nice visibility but it turned out to be pretty rough.  Ended up having a great dive. Thanks to Lexi for taking pictures.

Mule Deer Foundation Dinner | Blacktail Chapter
The Mule Deer Foundation just had their first Blacktail Chapter dinner in Santa Rosa, CA. The dinner turned out to be a huge success with a over 200 people attending. We plan on having a annual dinner so put March 5th in your calendars for next year.

Start building your wood duck box’s now.  Help boost the population so our kids can enjoy the hunting we have over the years.

Made a solo trip to Max’s Ranch to do some tree work and shed hunt. Didn’t end up finding any fresh sheds but found two deer skulls with antlers. The first one was fresh from this year and the other was probably a couple of year old. The second one was a monster probably about 19 wide and 18 tall 4x4. I also saw one of the biggest boar ive seen in a while no pic but he was probably high 300’s.
